As Groupon continues to grow in scale, we’re looking for an outstanding candidate to become the Legal Southern Europe.
Based in Milan (Italy), the successful applicant will report directly to the Head of Legal EMEA  and play a key role in assessing and ensuring Groupon’s compliance with state requirements applicable to our commercial operations.
 
Key responsibilities will include:

• Helping build an industry-leading regulatory function for Groupon;
• Counseling Groupon’s sales teams and other client groups on all types of laws and regulations;
• Concerning Groupon’s commercial practices, including without limitation, privacy laws;
• Researching and tracking state legislation and evolving regulations;
• Supporting sales and product teams on compliant deal structure and deployment;
• Engaging, managing and collaborating with outside subject matter counsel;
• Advocating before and directly engaging in dialog with regulators and trade associations, as necessary;
• Working with the corporate communications and press teams, policy advocates and others as necessary, regarding new laws, regulations, and guidelines that may affect Groupon’s business;

Qualifications:

• Be a lawyer with three to five years of experience who expects to work cross-functionally with other members of the legal and corporate support teams, and clients and business leaders at all levels of the company;
• Be self-motivated and focused, well-organized, creative, and able to pro-actively propose and defend solutions to emerging and previously unknown problems;
• Be able to communicate clearly, have strong analytical thinking skills and demonstrate consistently ethical judgment;
• Fluent in English, advanced in Italian and Spanish, Portuguese and/or Greek are a plus;
